The SDSO will open its 2019/20 with a Come and Play afternoon at Alva Parish Church.
It’s an informal event and everyone will have the opportunity to play the organ. Please bring along any music you’d like to play.
We start at 2.30pm. Afternoon tea will be served during the afternoon.
Arrangements are slightly different from previous years and the timetable for the day is below:
10:30 – approx 11:00am – St Andrews West. The SDSO will join a coffee morning at the church for refreshments before the meeting
11:00-12:45 approx. – AGM, opportunities to play the organ at St Andrews West then onto Christ Church Episcopalian
1300 onwards. A light lunch will be served at Christ Church and members are asked to pay £3 directly to the church on the day as a contribution to the catering
** For those members intending to only join the lunch, please note that there is no access to Christ Church before 1pm as the church is being used by another organisation**
**SDSO members are advised that parking is very restricted at Christ Church. It is recommended to park away from the church**
20/4/2019 – Samba Drumming at Lecropt Church
The SDSO will host a samba duo at Lecropt Church on Saturday, 20th April 2019 at 2.30pm. Please come along and support our visiting musicians. Refreshments will be served after the event.
The event is free to attend and all are welcome.
The SDSO’s March meeting will take place in the Dunblane Cathedral Halls with the Cathedral’s own handbell group.
The meeting will start at 2.30pm
The SDSO will hosts its annual lunch on Saturday, 16th February 2019 at Alva Parklands. Access to the venue will be from 12:30pm.
Please note that this meeting has now been cancelled.
The SDSO will hold its first meeting of 2019 in Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Stirling where Kevin Duggan will run a session on organ registration.
Craigmailed United Free church in Bo’ness hosted the SDSO’s second meeting of its 2018/19 session on Saturday, 17th November 2018.
The Talk on Baroque was a well – attended meeting was enjoyed by everyone. The members were heard snippets of pieces on a digital harpsichord from composers such as Sweelinck, Couperin, Zipoli and Scarlatti
The SDSO opening its 2018/19 season with a recital by Tony Baldwin at Stenhouse and Parish Church. It was a varied programme and included works by: Buxtehude (Prelude and Fugue in G minor), Willan (Two Chorale Preludes), Mathias (Processional) and Vierne (Berceuse) and also by Tony Baldwin himself (Little Suite).
